THE BOOKS

The "James" series of books follow a child with autism through various activities and situations. Each book in the series has questions throughout the book to further engage the reader. In the back of the books are additional notes and resources for adults and other children wanting to learn more.

This book introduces children to hippotherapy - physical therapy on horseback. It also shares some of what is needed to care for a horse and to stay safe while riding a horse.

James Learns Sports

Like the other books in the series, there are questions throughout the book that will engage the children.  Carolyn is donating $1 from each copy of this book sol to the Hi-5 Sports program. This program allows children of all abilities to enjoy sports and learn sportsmans-like conduct.

This book explores what happens in preschool. It touches on daily general learning skills, as well as specialized services such as speech, occupational, and physical therpies. It has 2 pages of suggestions on what to look for when selecting a preschool program for a child with autism. This is one of three books that will be illustrated by Melodie Huston, Carolyn's cousin and also a mother of a child with autism.

This is the first in a series of books about holidays. Holidays are often a very difficult time for children with special needs, sensory issues, or even food allergies. In turn, they can become very stressful for others trying to celebrate with them. These books help increase awareness around the holidays and aim to make them more enjoyable for all.
