Skipping rocks, early flight, and a visit from the past
We are getting ready to start our third day on the road. Joan and I will let the kids sleep in as we drive westward. Yesterday we started with a casual start. James helped Joan make chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, as I worked. They were delicious. After breakfast, we spent some time organizing the RV and updated the map for the states we had visited. Then we took a quick jaunt to the beach at Geneva State Park in Ohio. It was on the shores of Lake Erie. Of course, asking the boys to try to keep their clothes dry was pointless. Two days and two sets of wet clothes. They were all practiced skipping rocks. The most was around 4.
The next stop on our Journey was the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Park. This time we arrived about 25 minutes prior to closing. It was another great stop. The kids were able to get the Junior Ranger packets and will work on them and then mail them back in. We felt it was more important to see as many of the exhibits as we could. Did you know the Wright brothers had a printing business and a bike business before they started flying? Their mother was the one who encouraged their mechanical explorations.
In the evening we crossed into Indiana and spent the night camping in Greenfield. Allison and James enjoyed some puddle stomping. We were visited by James' first speech therapist, Mandy. She had worked with James from the time he was 18 months old until we moved back to New York when he was just past 26 months old. She was amazed at the progress he has made. Every day I am thankful for the professionals who work (and have worked with him in the past). She was thrilled that she could have a conversation with him. He was excited to see her also.
