Crazy Horse Memorial and Wyoming

Getting functioning really early in the morning has proven more difficult as the trip progresses. But the delay in leaving Tuesday proved to be a blessing in disguise. If we had left at the targeted time we would not have been able to visit Crazy Horse Memorial. I last visited this location in 1978. It was nothing like it is now. Currently linked to the project is a Native American University and a Native American Cultural Center that represents all Native people, not just the ones from the Plains region of the country. The $30 entrance fee was definitely worth it. We began with a 22-minute presentation on the history and current status of the project. To give you a perspective on size - the faces at Mt. Rushmore are each 60 feet tall, while Crazy Horse's face is 80 feet tall..

Upon leaving Crazy Horse, we ventured across Wyoming. On this leg of the journey we saw lots of pronghorn antelope and one bunch of vultures. Shortly after driving out of the fog we saw cowboys and their sheep dogs rounding up sheep and safely getting them across the road in front of us. Then we stopped at a Greek Food truck for dinner. Our final stop for the night was about 30 miles from the eastern entrance of Yellowstone.
